Creativity transcends the realms of art, influencing how we live our lives. We've collaborated with the Arts and Culture and Creative Industries Bloc (ACCIB), an informal coalition of Members of the Philippine House of Representatives, to fast-track the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act. At the Communication Design Association of the Philippines (CDAP), we believe the future is creative and all sectors should unite behind this effort.
To support this cause, we've designed multicolored pins inspired by our rich weaving heritage, showcasing our diverse cultural landscape. These pins and Zoom backgrounds were featured during President Duterte’s final State of the Nation Address on July 26, 2021. #TheFutureIsCreative
Design Playground at Design Week Philippines 2023 in the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) showcased an impressive array of creativity. Fifty tote bags, featuring fifty unique designs from forty-six designers, were carefully selected by Type63 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Design Center of the Philippines. The creative brief was simple yet profound: type, lettering, or calligraphic designs that demonstrate the incredible power of design to heal and innovate.
This exhibit was a collaboration between DTI's Design Center of the Philippines, the Communication Design Association of the Philippines (CDAP), Type63, and Team Manila Graphic Design Studio. It highlighted the vibrant and transformative nature of design, emphasizing its role in our lives and communities.
We supported the “Paalalabas” project, where local designers reimagined public safety reminders for COVID-19, demonstrating the power of design in public health and safety communications (Interaksyon)

Our goal is to build a thriving Communication Design Industry in the Philippines that benefits all stakeholders, aiming for the country to become ASEAN's leading creative economy by 2030. Working with the Department of Trade and Industry's Competitiveness and Innovation Group (DTI-CIG), this roadmap outlines strategic direction, actionable steps, and desired impacts to achieve this mission.
Consultation with stakeholders revealed a gap between graphic design's textbook definition, current practice, and future expectations. Communication Design better reflects the diverse practices of Filipino graphic designers and the industry's future evolution.
This roadmap serves as a practical guide, detailing the strategic actions needed to navigate the evolving landscape and realize this vision for the communication design industry.
